Author Guidelines

Author Guidelines

The Journal of Social Science Perspectives (JSSP) welcomes original, high-quality scholarly contributions that advance knowledge across the social sciences. Authors are encouraged to carefully follow these guidelines to facilitate efficient peer review and publication.


1. Authorship

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made a substantial intellectual contribution to the conception, design, execution, analysis, or interpretation of the research.

  • Only individuals who have made significant scholarly contributions should be listed as authors.
  • The order of authors should accurately reflect their respective contributions and must be approved by all co-authors prior to submission.
  • One corresponding author must be designated to manage all communications with the Editorial Office throughout the submission, review, and publication process.
  • All authors share responsibility for the integrity, accuracy, and originality of the submitted work.

2. Manuscript Preparation

Title Page

The title page should include:

  • Full manuscript title.
  • Full names of all authors.
  • Institutional affiliations for each author.
  • Name and email address of the corresponding author.
  • Abstract (150–250 words).
  • Three to six keywords relevant to the manuscript.

Abstract

The abstract should provide a concise summary of the study, including:

  • Background
  • Objectives
  • Methodology
  • Key findings
  • Conclusion

The abstract should not contain references, tables, figures, or unexplained abbreviations.

Main Manuscript

Depending on the study design, manuscripts should normally be organized as follows:

  • Introduction
  • Literature Review or Theoretical Framework
  • Materials and Methods / Methodology
  • Results or Findings
  • Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • Acknowledgements (where applicable)
  • Funding Statement
  • Conflict of Interest Statement
  • References

JSSP welcomes qualitative, quantitative, mixed-methods, theoretical, conceptual, and interdisciplinary research. Authors should clearly describe their research design, data sources, analytical methods, and limitations where applicable.


3. Formatting Requirements

Authors should prepare manuscripts using the following format:

  • Font: Calibri
  • Font Size: 9 pt
  • Line Spacing: Single (1.0)
  • Margins: Standard (2.54 cm / 1 inch)
  • Headings: Use a consistent hierarchical heading structure throughout the manuscript.
  • Pages should be numbered consecutively.

4. Figures and Tables

Figures and tables should:

  • Be inserted within the manuscript near their first citation.
  • Include clear titles or captions.
  • Be sequentially numbered.
  • Include appropriate source acknowledgements where applicable.
  • Obtain written permission for any copyrighted material reproduced from other sources.

5. References

Authors should use a recognized citation style consistently throughout the manuscript.

Accepted reference styles include:

  • APA (7th Edition preferred)
  • APA (6th Edition)
  • Vancouver (where appropriate)

All in-text citations must correspond exactly to entries in the reference list, and all references should be complete, accurate, and formatted consistently.


6. Ethics and Research Integrity

The Journal of Social Science Perspectives is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and research integrity.

Authors are expected to:

  • Submit only original and unpublished work.
  • Avoid plagiarism, duplicate publication, and redundant submission.
  • Disclose all financial, institutional, or personal conflicts of interest.
  • Acknowledge all funding sources.
  • Ensure that research complies with applicable institutional, national, and disciplinary ethical standards.

Research involving human participants, interviews, surveys, focus groups, personal information, or sensitive social data should include appropriate ethical approval where required and describe measures taken to protect participant confidentiality and informed consent.

Authors are encouraged to consult the journal's Publication Ethics Policy, Conflict of Interest Policy, and related editorial policies before submission.


7. Plagiarism and Artificial Intelligence (AI)

JSSP maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism and publication misconduct.

  • All manuscripts undergo similarity screening before peer review.
  • Manuscripts containing unacceptable levels of plagiarism or duplicate publication may be rejected without external review.
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, including large language models, must not be listed as authors.
  • Authors should disclose any substantial use of AI-assisted tools in manuscript preparation where appropriate.
  • Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of all submitted content regardless of AI assistance.

8. Peer Review and Editorial Decision

All eligible submissions undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process conducted by independent experts.

Editorial decisions may include:

  • Acceptance
  • Minor Revision
  • Major Revision
  • Rejection

Final publication decisions are based solely on scholarly quality, originality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, and relevance to the journal's scope.


9. Open Access and Copyright

The Journal of Social Science Perspectives operates under a Gold Open Access publishing model.

  • All published articles are immediately and permanently accessible without subscription or paywall restrictions.
  • Authors retain copyright ownership of their work.
  • Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence (or the licence adopted by the journal), permitting reuse, distribution, adaptation, and reproduction with appropriate attribution.
  • Authors may archive and share their published work in accordance with the journal's copyright and self-archiving policies.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.
